The H+O Story

Jeremiah O’Neill and Rens Hayes were eager to build an organization with positive culture and processes for sustainable growth, bringing value to any development. Together, they founded Hayes & O’Neill in 2016.

The two principals originally connected while working for one of the largest structural engineering firms in Boston, where they had the opportunity to collaborate with the most technically advanced and well-respected engineers and architects. They managed projects up and down the east coast, consisting of millions of square feet, and ranging from 1-story long span structures to 60-story hi-rise towers.

During their first year in business, both Jeremiah and Rens worked full time at Rens Welding & Fabricating and started building the business off-hours. They focused on creating systems for scale and slowly built clients through word of mouth.

In 2017, they launched Hayes & O’Neill headquarters in the Fort Port neighborhood of Boston’s Seaport District. They simultaneously hired staff, launched the original website and started contacting target clients to gain exposure in the market.

Fast forward to 2019, Hayes & O’Neill has grown to a team of 10 and experienced a compounding annual growth rate over 100%. Hayes & O’Neill has now rebranded as H+O Structural Engineering to bring focus to the incredible team, culture and results produced by the organization.

Aligned by our mission, H+O is positioned to deliver a better experience to architects and developers across the country.
